Education on general approach for pain management and the cause of pain. If someone is looking for a drug-free, time-tested, effective, natural, and safe way to eliminate pain, then acupuncture can help.

Pain Management

At some point of our lives, each of us will most likely experience some minor to severe pain. The cause can be from injury, illness, or unknown causes. Our body sends pain signal to warn us that something is wrong and out of harmony.

Some people choose to take pain killer and/or muscle relaxant to dull the pain. It is helpful to reduce the symptoms. Taking medications would not treat the root cause. It’s like hitting a snooze button. The alarm will keep remind you that there is something wrong. That’s why the pain may get worse or they have to take their medications everyday. There are also the unwanted side effects from the pills which may further compromise our health and organ functions.

Surgery is another popular approach to reduce the pain and it is highly effective. It could be expensive and there is always a risk with a procedure.

The cause of pain:

  1. Everyday wear and tear
  2. Physical trauma such as auto accidents, and sports injures.
  3. Emotional trauma
  4. Poor choice of diet
  5. Stress

How can acupuncture help me?

If someone is looking for a drug-free, time-tested, effective, natural, and safe way to eliminate pain, then acupuncture can help. Acupuncture can induce the release of endorphin which is a natural pain killer in our body. It can reduce inflammation and pain. It can speed up metabolism and reduce toxin build up at local region. It also helps to reduce muscle tension so that the muscle fibers are not pressing on the nerve. Hence, the nerve will not send out pain signals.

We will suggest stretch exercises, yoga, massage therapy, and maybe dietary change.  We will also teach our patient/client the self-help of jin shin jyutsu for their particular needs.

An acupuncture treatment for pain management looks like this:

By examining the pain area, a licensed acupuncturist is able to determine the cause of the pain and formulate a personalized treatment plan. The practitioner will insert fine, sterile needles at specific points. In our practice, we use about 7 needles per treatment. The needles will retain 30 minutes and we will remove them.
